About  /  Will Simpson

He learned to close a sale before he ever learned to close a shutter.

Will Simpson has photographed weddings across Florida for more than ten years. But the reason his calendar stays full has less to do with the camera than most photographers want to admit.

01 / Two careers, one advantage

Most photographers come to the business through art. Will came through sales.

Before he ever picked up a professional camera, Will built and ran a sales company in the cosmetics industry. The entire job was turning a conversation with a stranger into revenue: understanding what someone actually wanted, and helping them feel confident enough to say yes.

When he finally fell in love with photography, he already owned the skill most photographers spend a decade avoiding. While his peers email a price list and wait, Will books the call and closes it. In an industry full of brilliant artists who dread the money conversation, that one skill is his entire edge.

02 / The work

Elevated imagery for people who don't want the ordinary.

Out of the Tampa area, Will shoots roughly 25 weddings a year at an average around $7,500, on a brand promise he has never watered down. He does his own editing from start to finish, because in more than ten years he has never found an editor or a piece of software that matches the look he wants his couples to open on the other side.

He is a perfectionist behind the lens and a minimalist everywhere else. He shoots on instinct, moves fast, and has built a client experience where the photography is only ever half of what people are paying for.

03 / Why he teaches

A lazy teacher, by his own description. He means it as a promise.

Will has quietly taught photographers for years through his Exploring Photography channel, a library of no-nonsense tutorials that gathered an audience in the hundreds of thousands and an email list around ten thousand strong. When he calls himself a lazy teacher, it is a compliment to you: he only shows the shortest path that actually works, and he throws the rest out.

His belief about why photographers struggle is blunt. They do not fail because they are bad at photography. They fail because nobody ever taught them to communicate, market, sell, and deliver like a business. Will solved all four for himself. PhotogU is where he hands the whole operating system to the next room of photographers, and helps them install it.
